Budget Wedding Planning - Ideas to plan a cheap wedding

With the average cost of a wedding running anywhere from twenty to thirty thousand dollars, it’s enough to make a couple just forget about having a wedding.

It is possible not only to have that wedding but to have a low budget wedding / cheap wedding that is every bit as elegant and beautiful as those more expensive weddings. One of the secrets to keeping your wedding budget under control is planning.

Always keep in mind, planning a wedding on a budget is possible. The most important thing is to think outside the box and find creative ways to make your wedding special but inexpensive.  And remember, you will be just as married whether you spend $1,000 or $10,000.

Cheap Wedding Tips - 10 Tips to Save Money on Your Wedding

1.) Reduce your wedding guest list. Everytime you add a name on your wedding guest list it increases your budget significantly.

2.) Save postage on your wedding invitations. Rather having a reply card ask friends to reply on telephone or e-mail. Look for cheap wedding invitations on the internet and don't go for engraving. Regular invites work just well. For a casual wedding consider printing your own invitations (can buy from stationery store or design your own) from your home computer.

3.) To get cheap wedding dresses, look out for sample sales which generally happen once a year where you can pick up a great designer dress at rock-bottom prices. (sizes are normally 6, 8 or 10). You can rent a dress (saves you hundreds of dollars) or buy a good quality used wedding dress. (ps. cleaning a wedding dress could cost up to $250)

4.) For a budget Wedding Reception have it on a weeknight or Sunday, as there is less demand for these dates and vendors will be willing to give you a better rate.

5.) Simplify your Church decorations, or have your wedding near a major holiday as the church will already be decorated, saving you money on flowers.

6.) Pool friends and family resources together to help you on your wedding day. eg musicians, DIY photography or DIY video, beauticians or hairdressers. They will be generally honored to be a special part of your big day ! Ask them how they saved money and also check out wedding planning books for ideas and proven tips to save money.

7.) Save on DIY Wedding Projects. Eg. Wedding Favors, Simple Floral and Candle Centrepieces, Cupcakes (instead of Wedding Cake), Ring Pillow and Flower Girl Baskets, make invitations and homemade inexpensive touches.

8.) Save on Catering Costs. Compare the cost of a 3 course dinner to a buffet, and ask for the least expensive entrees, main courses and desserts.

9.) Save on Drinks. See if you can provide your own liquor, or if serving only wine or beer will it be cheaper than a full bar. Consider only having the bar open for the cocktail hour. For dinner you can serve and inexpensive wine. If yourself and your fiance don't drink, consider having a dry wedding.

10.) Ebay is a great place to get cheap items - from second hand wedding dresses to wedding favors, cake toppers, ring pillows etc.
